Auction: Signed Metal Gear Solid 4 Insert
Maybe it was our goading that there was no Metal Gear Solid 4 representation in our endorsed auctions, but Stephen Kleckner saw fit to remedy that with an autographed MGS4 insert. We will assume, of course, that if you’re bidding on this, you probably bought your copy on June 12, 2008.
You are bidding on an unused, unfolded jewel case insert of the American version of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
This item is SIGNED by voice actress Yumi Kikuchi (Raging Raven), Metal Gear Solid 4′s senior producer Kenichiro Imaizumi and the Metal Gear Solid series head honcho HIDEO KOJIMA.
Item and signatures were obtained during the Metal Gear Solid 4 launch event in San Francisco, CA. I personally met, shook hands and watched each individual sign this insert. Since then this cool piece of Metal Gear memorabilia has spent its life inside a padded envelope away from harmful natural elements, where procrastination has kept it from being framed and displayed.
This auction ends March 31 at 02:00:43 PDT with all proceeds going to Global Giving.

Auction: Final Fantasy VI Advance Collection Signed By Kitase
Tom Slattery has put up some rare and highly unusual materials: a full collection for Final Fantasy VI Advance. The details are what makes this one really special:
This is an auction for the following 5 items from the personal collection of the English translator of Final Fantasy VI Advance:
1. Final Fantasy VI Advance (Signed)
A copy of the North American version of Final Fantasy VI Advance, signed by director Yoshinori Kitase in near-perfect condition with all original packaging/inserts. This is my own personal copy that I received as the translator for the game. It has a very small dent near the top of the box (visible near the “ONLY FOR” in the upper left corner), but is otherwise in fantastic condition.
2. Final Fantasy VI Advance Box Proof
An uncut proof / color check printing of the final Final Fantasy VI Advance box. This is on the same card stock used for GBA boxes, but uncut and unfolded. Possibly the only one still in existence!
3. Final Fantasy VI Advance Manual Proof
A proof printing of the Final Fantasy VI Advance US manual. Another very unique item, this is the final version of the manual printed and cut for proofing. The pages are printed only on a single side, so the booklet consists of alternating white and printed pages. The paper itself is the same as that used for the real manual. There is a little bit of residue along the center line from a rubber band that was stuck to it, but it is otherwise still in near-perfect condition.
4. Final Fantasy VI Stationery Set
This is an item from the original release of Final Fantasy VI for Super Famicom in Japan. It consists of…well, to be honest I’m not entirely sure. There are some Setzer pencils, a pencil board, a tin tray, a Mog eraser, a ruler, and possibly some other stuff. It’s from 1994 and the condition of the box shows it (little bit yellowed, and with some dings and shelf wear). There is also a small sticker in the bottom right corner marked “SAMPLE”.
5. Final Fantasy VI Clock
I believe this was a promotional item for the PlayStation version of Final Fantasy VI in Japan. It is a wall clock featuring Amano artwork of Terra and takes AA batteries. It has been used, but is in perfect shape aside from a little dust.
Proceeds from the auction benefit Global Giving. It closes on March 31 at 08:38:07 PDT.
Auction: Batman: Arkham Asylum – Signed Game Informer Cover Sketch
Crystal Dynamic’s Karl Stewart has quite a few solid pieces of memorabilia up for auction. This one, however, is major: it’s a signed sketch of the famous Game Informer reveal cover for Batman: Arkham Asylum.
It’s the original sketch from famed DC/Wildstorm artist CArlos D’anda for the Game Informer Announcement cover of Batman Arkham Asylum that I had the pleasure of working on 2008/09 along with the actual copy of Game Informer that I had personally signed by:
The auction ends on April 2 at 23:24:48 PDT with all sales proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross.

Auction Update: Eddie Riggs Brutal Legend statue
From the Kindness of Strangers department: Double Fine has informed us that an anonymous benefactor has stepped forward promising to match whatever amount the Eddie Riggs statue auction closes at as an independent donation.
This auction closes in a mere 23 hours (March 25, 16:13:13 PDT), so if you’re on the fence…time to not be…on the fence anymore? You know what we mean.
Thank you, Mr./Mrs./Dr. Anonymous!

TONIGHT: Kotaku Fundraiser in Denver, CO
Live in Denver? Willing to travel to Denver? Enjoyed a Denver omelet this morning? If you answered “yes” to the first two questions, you should consider attending this evening’s Kotaku Fundraiser at the Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom in support of the Japanese Red Cross. 6PM to Midnight!
The fundraiser will include Rock Band, DJ Hero and perhaps Dance Central up on stage as well as a free console arcade when it kicks off on March 24 in the historic Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver. There’s also going to be a live DJ set during the first hour and a silent auction running through the evening. (Bring cash or a credit card to bid on that stuff.)
If you answered “yes” to the third question, we are envious of you.
TeamFortress 2 Hat Sale!
It is a fact: life is made better when you wear a fancy hat. Valve knows this all too well, which is why they’re putting on a hat fundraiser in TeamFortress 2 for the American Red Cross.
Today, we’d like to offer a chance to help out at a time when that help matters most. To support the relief efforts currently underway in Japan, we’re introducing three limited edition hats and two special noisemakers to the Mann Co. store. The “Humanitarian’s Hachimaki” ($7.99), the “Benefactor’s Kanmuri” ($19.99) and the most prestigious “Magnanimous Monarch” ($99.99) will be available from now through April 6. All proceeds (net of applicable taxes) will go directly towards the Japanese disaster relief fund that the American Red Cross has set up. The hats can be equipped by all classes; however, they cannot be traded or used for crafting.
Buy your hats before April 6th, though — after that, they’re gone.
